Matt's Weekend Picks: August. 26-28
Alice St. Clair, Serta Amboyer Who states nothing happens about the weekend before Labor Day? (And we are not speaking storm formulations about the New England - a minimum of not within this space.) Nowadays, TV rarely requires a holiday, and the like may be the situation a few days ago. A couple of highlights: Torchwood: Miracle Day (Friday, 10/9c, Starz) If only I possibly could are convinced that last week's terrific episode (Jack's 20's flashback, which went from romantic to disturbing inside a bloody expensive because he was revealed as "the blessing") symbolized coming back to create with this otherwise woefully uneven season of Torchwood. But I am afraid we are back to the current day now, and also the action is equally as absurdly clumsy and also the figures (Rex and Esther particularly) as irritating as always. Still, with only two episodes to visit following this, I'll watch towards the finish. Physician Who (Saturday, 9/8c, BBC America) In much more happy genre news, we resume the crackerjack sixth season (the 2nd starring the wonderful Matt Cruz) by having an outing entitled "Let us Kill Hitler." The search continues for companion Amy's purloined baby Tune Pond (who now that we know to become River Song in her own adult version), using the TARDIS to nineteen thirties Berlin, where (based on the BBCA synopsis) "the Physician [comes] in person using the finest war criminal within the World - and Hitler." Take a rest from perusing the button snaps in the Kardashian wedding to look at this inflamed bonbon, the 2nd TV-movie to chart the royal lovebirds' courtship. (Though shot following the wedding, unlike Lifetime's earlier quickie movie, there's still no make an effort to recreate the ceremony.) Noticably for that casting all around the bland couple - Wills is performed by a united states having a full locks, should you be curious - including Victor Garber like a stuffy Prince Charles, Jean Wise like a good-natured Camilla (discuss your creating women!) and Jane Alexander being an abnormally robust, tall Full Elizabeth, playing yard darts and Wii to endear herself towards the commoner who does be princess. MTV Music Video Honours (Sunday, 9/8c, MTV) For just one evening annually, MTV pretends will still be a music funnel, and also the 28th annual extravaganza includes performances from Rhianna (opening the show with "WeInch) - who hopefully leaves the meat dress yourself in the freezer - Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, Adele along with other usual suspects. Adding some class towards the evening: living legend Tony Bennett, there to recognition the late Amy Winehouse, with whom he recorded a duet of "Body and Soul" to become launched the following month. Leverage (Sunday, 9/8c, TNT) Wrapping a powerful summer time season - new episodes return November. 27 - they heads to Dubai on Sterling's account to drag off a higher-tech caper throughout an worldwide chess tournament. Successful or unsuccessful, they have recently been guaranteed a fifth year on TNT. True Bloodstream (Sunday, 9/8c, Cinemax) Ongoing one of the most entertaining seasons of the supernatural free-for-all, "all hell breaks loose in Shreveport" (HBO's words) following the witches' ambush in the Tolerance Festival. Even though Bill leads a vampire retaliation from the Moon Goddess Emporium, others (including Sookie, Jason, Jesus and Lafayette) attempt to save Tara and Carol, trapped within. Curb Your Enthusiasm (Sunday, 10/9c, Cinemax) Ray David clashes with Wanda Sykes (who "pre-empts Larry's training schedule," we are told), that is always beneficial for any laugh. Breaking Bad (Sunday, 10/9c, AMC) The strain is constantly on the mount within the summer's most searing drama, following last week's declaration by Bryan Cranston as Wally Whitened that "I'm the risk.Inch Now, he certainly appears some risk - to themself, otherwise to others, because he sways on lawyer Saul and partner-in-crime Jesse in the frustration over the inability to get near his enemy, Gus. Meanwhile, brother-in-law Hank is finally mobile enough to pursue their own accusations, going to Los Pollos Hermanos, where when the fried chicken does not kill you, the boss might just. Absolutely gripping. Sign up for TV Guide Magazine now!
